PARSENAME
Syntax
PARSENAME (TextSourceField, "name_token")
Description
Returns the specified name token from name line.
Arguments
TextSourceField |
The string from which to return a name token. |
Name_token | The identifier for the name token to return. Following are the valid values for this argument.
P - Prefix F - First Name M - Middle Name L - Last Name S - Suffix D - Professional degree |
Returns
The name token, or portion of the original TextSourceField.
Remarks
A valid name should include a first name and last name, and may also included a middle name, prefix, suffix or professional degree.
When identifying prefixes, suffixes, and professional degrees PARSNAME is not case-sensitive.
Examples
The following example:
PARSENAME("Mr. John T. Smith Jr., PhD", "F")
Returns: John
The following example:
PARSENAME("John T. Smith", "L")
Returns: Smith
Prefixes, Suffixes, And Professional Degrees Recognized By PARSENAME
