Starting, Stopping, and Scaling Apps With the TIBCO® Cloud - Command Line Interface

You can scale an app with the TIBCO Cloud - Command Line Interface (CLI) to change the number of running instances. Scaling is also used to start an app that has no running instances, or stop an app by scaling it down to zero instances.

App scaling is done using the app scaleup, app scaledown, and app scaleto commands.

  1. Scale up the app myapp1 by adding three instances:

     tibcli app scaleup 3 myapp1
  2. Scale down the app myapp1 by one instance:

     tibcli app scaledown 1 myapp1
  3. Scale the app myapp1 to three instances:

     tibcli app scaleto 3 myapp1
  4. You can see app instances in the TIBCO Cloud Integration web UI, or list the apps using the tibcli app list CLI command to see the number of instances running:

     tibcli app list
  5. Each of the above commands work with apps in the default sandbox. You can also scale apps in another sandbox with the --sandbox or -s option. For example, to scale up the app myapp1 in the sandbox myTestBox by adding three instances:

tibcli app scaleup --sandbox myTestBox 3 myapp1

App Fault-Tolerance

TIBCO Cloud Integration App instances are fault-tolerant. TIBCO Cloud Integration checks if App instances are still running. If it detects that an App instance has failed, it will automatically restart a new instance. For example, if an App’s desired instance count is two, and one of the instances stops running, a second instance will be automatically started.
