Upgrading a Marketplace Extension Listing
If you make changes to the contents of an extension that has been added as a Marketplace listing, you can upgrade the asset in the Marketplace with the changes.
Considerations
- Changing the name or category of an extension is not considered an upgrade and would not affect the existing Marketplace listing. However, changing the name or category would allow you to create a new Marketplace listing from this extension.
- Upgrading a Marketplace listing overwrites the listing in the Marketplace. If the listing is public, it is made private.
- Members of your organization can see and access the listing even when it is private.
- If the listing was public, members of other organizations can no longer see the listing when it is private.
- Members of other organizations that installed a prior version of the extension can see the listing in the Marketplace.
- When the upgraded extension is approved and becomes public, it is available for installation or for organizations to Request access.
- Prior installed versions of the extension are not updated.
Note: Best practice is to install and test Marketplace listings in a test organization to verify that the assets work as expected before installing and running listings in a production organization.
Upgrade an extension
- Select Environment & Tools from the menu.
- Under Connector Management & Extensions select Extensions.
- Select Upload to upload the new version of the extension. Version is determined by the version number in the JSON file contained in the extension.
- Select the extension either from a Git Repository or from a Zip file and click Upload and compile.
- Locate the extension you want to upgrade in the Marketplace.
- Select the shortcut menu for the extension and choose Promote visibility to Org. If it is already visible at the Org level, skip to step 7.
- Select the shortcut menu for the extension and choose Upgrade listing to latest version. A confirmation dialog displays reminding you that the listing will become private.
- Select OK, got it. The listing is set to Private and the Marketplace asset is upgraded.
