Managing Remote Apps
TIBCO Cloud Integration supports two types of apps, cloud apps and remote or hybrid apps. A cloud app is an app running within TIBCO Cloud Integration. A remote app is a TIBCO BusinessWorks or TIBCO Flogo® app running outside the TIBCO Cloud™, such as on-premises in your local network or in your own Cloud environment. The TIBCO Cloud™ Integration - Hybrid Agent can be configured to manage and provide information about remote apps.
To manage remote apps, you must download, configure, and run the TIBCO Cloud Integration - Hybrid Agent, then configure your apps for discovery by the agent. See Downloading, Configuring, and Running the Hybrid Agent and Configuring Remote Apps for Auto-discovery for more information.
The TIBCO Cloud™ Integration - Hybrid Agent securely communicates information about managed remote apps, such as statistics, app status, and other app details. The Hybrid Agent also runs commands sent from the TIBCO Cloud Integration user interface to remote apps.
When the TIBCO Cloud Integration - Hybrid Agent is running, remote apps are displayed in TIBCO Cloud Integration on the Apps List. You can see and manage your remote apps the same as your cloud apps. For example:
- Remote apps display in the list on the Apps page as a Hybrid deployment. The Deployment column indicates where the app is running.
- The organization dashboard includes statistics for both remote and cloud apps.
- App peek provides a summary of monitoring information for remote apps.
- You can select a remote or cloud app to show the associated App Details page.
- The Monitoring tab in the App Details page shows detailed monitoring information for remote or cloud apps.
- TIBCO Cloud™ - Command Line Interface commands related to viewing apps (
tibcli app list
andtibcli app detail
) are supported for remote apps. No other CLI commands are supported for remote apps. - TIBCO Cloud Integration API GET methods return information about remote apps. No other API methods are supported for remote apps.
- You can start and stop remote apps from the Apps List.
- You can scale a remote app up or down from the App Details page.
- You can update remote app variables from the App Details page on the Environment Controls tab.
TIBCO Cloud™ Integration tracks updates sent from hybrid agents to determine if they are healthy and still running. Likewise, hybrid agents keep track of remote app. Remote apps and agents are displayed in TIBCO Cloud Integration based on this life cycle. See TIBCO Cloud™ Integration - Hybrid Agent And App Life Cycle for more information.
Note that the TIBCO Cloud Integration - Hybrid Agent is different from the TIBCO Cloud Integration - Connect agent. Both are displayed on the Agents page in the TIBCO Cloud Integration, but the TIBCO Cloud Integration - Connect agent is also an engine that runs each app, and uses a different installation. See Agents Overview in the TIBCO Cloud Integration - Connect documentation for more details.
To use the TIBCO Cloud Integration - Hybrid Agent, you must have a subscription plan that supports it. See TIBCO Cloud™ Integration Subscriptions for more information.
